Job summary

Meadville Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Cardiac Unit to cover Day/Evening shifts on a full-time basis. The role involves direct and indirect patient care, rounding, and support for the nursing staff, with emphasis on patient safety and accurate documentation.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma, EMT/CNA/MA preferred, strong interpersonal skills, and experience with medical terminology and data entry.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent within one year from date of hire.
• EMT, Certified Nursing or Medical Assistant preferred.
• Fluent knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience in data entry or typing preferred.
• Previous clerical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with the daily routine and functions of the nursing unit, including transport, discharge, hygiene, and meals.
• Conduct hourly rounds on assigned patients and report observations.
• Update bed status board, manage rental beds, track work orders, and coordinate tests and transfers.
• Prepare and update patient records; obtain and file records per policy.
• Assist in admission process and collect patient information accurately.
• Obtain vital signs, weights, heights, intake/output, specimens, glucose, and EKGs; document results.
