Shifts rotate 12 hours (days and nights), with on-call requirements; opportunities exist to build skills in EKGs, Holter monitoring, and related cardiac testing while maintaining equipment and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months experience in a medical-related field preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and on-call.
• Basic typing and computer skills are also required.
• Transcription skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Edit EKGs in the ECG system (MUSE) after physician review.
• Use MUSE and TDS for testing data, results reporting, mailing, billing.
• Perform cardiac testing including EKGs, rhythm strips, stress testing, Holter monitoring per protocol.
• Maintain equipment by cleaning and stocking; alert for repairs and supplies.
• Maintain the CTU area to meet Safety & Security regulations.

UPMC Shadyside is hiring a Full-Time Cardiac Technician I to support the Centralized Telemetry Unit!

Rotating Day/Night 12-hours shifts (7:00am - 7:00pm and 7:00pm - 7:00am)

Explore this excellent entry-level position to build your skills and grow in the healthcare filed. Implement and prepare for interpretation of cardiac testing that includes EKGs, Holter Monitoring Hook-ups, and stress Testing.

The purpose of the Cardiac Technician I in the CTU is to provide continuous visual surveillance of numerous patients on cardiac rhythm monitors and notify appropriate nursing personnel immediately of alerts according to protocols.

Responsibilities:

• Edit EKGs, after physician review, by deleting, inserting or making additions of established phrases in the ECG Computerized System (MUSE).
• Utilize all computer systems (MUSE, TDS, etc) for testing data, result reporting and mailing, billing, etc.
• Perform cardiac testing that include EKGs, rhythm strips, Signal Average ECGs, Stress testing, Holter Monitoring hook-ups, according to protocol and in a timely fashion.
• Maintain equipment by cleaning and stocking on a daily basis as well as alerting appropriate personnel of needed repairs and supplies needed.
• Also maintain the department area to meet Safety & Security regulations (JCAHO & OSHA).
