Job summary

Dignity Health Medical Group in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (RNFA) to support cardiothoracic teams in high-acuity care. You will manage post-op recovery, perform endoscopic vein harvesting, and participate in intraoperative procedures.

Qualified candidates must hold PA-C or MSN with AZ license, DEA registration, and RNFA certification, and be prepared for a rotating call schedule across St. Joe’s and Chandler Regional facilities.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (RNFA), you will help cardiothoracic surgical teams manage high-acuity patients so they can achieve optimal post-operative recovery and improved cardiac health outcomes. Operating in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, you will serve as a vital link in the continuum of care, ensuring seamless transitions from the operating room to long-term outpatient clinical management.

In this role, you will perform essential clinical duties, including endoscopic vein harvesting, participation in intraoperative procedures, and management of patient rounds. You will be expected to perform diagnostic interpretations, prescribe medications, and lead post-operative outpatient clinics while collaborating within a high-performing multidisciplinary team to drive quality assurance and patient safety initiatives.

To be successful in this role, you must possess current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with an active Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) certification. Candidates should demonstrate a strong background in cardiovascular care, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment, and a commitment to maintaining a rotating call schedule at St. Joe’s and Chandler Regional medical facilities.

PA

• Degree as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
• Active or eligible license in the state of Arizona
• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Must hold and maintain: a.) AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants License, b.) NCCPA - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant
• Valid DEA registration.
• Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff.

NP

• Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
• Graduate of accredited program for Nurse Practitioners
• Active or eligible license in the state of Arizona
• Compact state or Arizona RN license
• Must hold and maintain National Certificate as a nurse practitioner in area of specialty under AZ regulations: a.) NP-AACN, b.) NP-AANP, c.) NP-ANCC
• Valid DEA registration
• RNFA
• Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff
