Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience in a cardiothoracic surgery setting.
1+ years of first assistant experience in cardiothoracic surgery.
1+ year of second assist experience in cardiothoracic surgery.
1+ year of experience in endovascular vein harvesting.
Responsibilities
Assist the supervising surgeon in operating room procedures.
Provide patient care expertise in postoperative acute care units.
Participate in aortic clinic and endovascular vein harvesting.
Maintain availability for acute aortic dissections requiring emergency surgery.
Skills
Knowledge of artificial cardiac devices
Experience with ventilators
Pharmacologic effects of vasoactive/cardiotonic drugs
Inpatient hospital care
Outpatient clinic work
Proficiency in minimally invasive surgical valve procedures
Flexibility to accommodate urgent cases
Education
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Current NCCPA Board Certification
California medical license
Current ACLS certification
Fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery
