Job summary

The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Nurse Director for the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit on the Boston Main Campus.

The role supports nurse leadership, clinical staffing, and patient-family centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Under the nurse director’s direction, the AND translates the department’s vision into unit-level practice, develops staff, and leads quality improvement initiatives with Lean and data-driven approaches.

Qualifications

• Current registration in nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Bachelor's of Nursing degree required.
• MSN, DNP, PhD, or Master’s degree in a related field, preferred.
• Current certification required or to be attained within two-year period from date of hire; certification must be maintained while employed in this position.
• Five (5) years nursing experience required.
• Cardiac Surgery, Ventricular Assist Device and Mechanical Support Device experience is required.
• Nursing leadership experience, 2-3 years, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promote excellent nursing practice and unit mission/values.
• Facilitate collaboration and effective communication among inter-professional teams.
• Participate in daily rounds for clinical consultation and problem solving.
• Manage day-to-day staffing and resources to meet patient census and acuity.
• Provide guidance on patient assignments and develop clinical staff.
