Summary:

Performs technically adequate echocardiogram examinations, adhering to practice protocols, including Doppler, color flow, contrast, and all required measurements in accordance with IAC Echocardiography standards. Assesses patient history and diagnostic reasons for the exam, reviews patient charts, and prepares all digital studies and worksheets for interpretation.

Responsibilities:
Education
  • AAS degree or Certificate in Cardiac Sonography required
  • BLS required
  • Bachelor degree in Cardiac Sonography preferred
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Cardiac Sonographer credentialed through the A.R.D.M.S or C.C.I.
Experience
  • Previous cardiac sonographer experience with at least 1000 hours of recent clinical cardiac ultrasound
  • Preferred minimum of 1 year experience in adult echocardiography
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • May be required to learn and perform stress echocardiograms where applicable
  • Requires precision in data recording and preparation; errors may have serious consequences
  • Attention to detail and alertness to detect irregularities or equipment malfunctions
  • Organizational skills to maintain workflow
  • Patience and maturity in dealing with patients, families, and staff
  • Ability to tolerate emotionally charged situations, such as cardiac arrests or end-of-life evaluations
Working Conditions
  • Travel to other TM affiliated locations required
  • Transporting equipment within the practice and to patient bedside necessary
  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases
Environment
  • Intermittent exposure to unpleasant physical conditions
  • Work often in rooms with low or inappropriate lighting
  • Temperature variations due to ultrasound equipment heat
