Job description

Under the direct, personal supervision of a registered Echo Cardiographer, the student worker assists in the performance of high-quality sonographic images/exams.

Essential Job Statements

  1. Functions under the direct, personal supervision of a registered Echocardiographer in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital and sonography policies and procedures.
  2. Directs patients to imaging rooms and clearly explains the exam and exam expectations.
  3. Performs high quality echocardiograms in the order stated in the imaging protocol.
  4. Stocks and/or obtains supplies as directed and maintains an organized work area.
  5. Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor: time/schedule changes; legal issues; care which deviates from standard; and identify educational resources to meet developmental needs.

Additional Position Requirements:

Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your Supervisor and/or Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet department needs. Day shift availability is expected.

Employment Qualifications

Required Education:

A student that is currently enrolled and actively completing a School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.

Student actively enrolled in a cardiac sonography/cardiovascular sonography program at an academic institution, or a recent (6-months) graduate of a cardiac/cardiovascular sonography program who has not yet obtained credentials in cardiac sonography.

Licensing/ Certification

Licensure/Certification Required:

CPR - Basic Life Support

Working Conditions
