Job Summary

Documents patient data and echo exam information completely and accurately utilizing the Echo Information Management System and other necessary computer applications.

Competently performs complete echocardiographic studies integrating all cardiac echo imaging modalities and procedures necessary to obtain all pertinent patient data. Documents patient data and echo exam information completely and accurately utilizing the Echo Information Management System and other necessary computer applications.

Job Responsibilities
  • Functions independently while using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to obtain a comprehensive echocardiogram.
  • Collaborates with Lead Cardiac Sonographers, Advanced Cardiac Sonographers, Echocardiographers, Physicians, and other team members to assist in interpretation of echocardiographic findings.
  • Assists in the orientation, training, and education of all levels of trainees, students, and visitors assigned to Cardiovascular Services.
  • Expectations include stress lab and stress echo lab procedures, outreach, on-call practices, weekends, evenings, and holiday coverage as needed.
  • Available for 24-hour call within a 30-minute response time required.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality care appropriately to the age of the patient, from neonate to geriatric populations.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in learning all equipment, imaging specialties, and echocardiography procedures.
  • Understands sterile procedures and isolation precaution techniques and exercises proper precautions to avoid potential exposures to radiation, infectious hazards, and sharp instruments.
  • Accountable to demonstrate proficiency for the skills outlined in the appropriate competencies list.
  • Must be able to tolerate frequent walking, standing, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level and endure occasional twisting and turning.
  • Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to hear at ordinary conversation level and possess good visual acuity.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven ability to work with co-workers, physicians, and all levels of healthcare professionals.
  • Must have knowledge of cardiac pathophysiology, diagnostic procedures, and patient care procedures.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • One (1) year of cardiac experience is preferred and registry eligibility.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in adult and pediatric cardiac sonography, including experience with transesophageal and stress echo.
  • Experience with outreach services is helpful.
Additional Requirements
  • Proficient in scanning cardiac abnormalities, quick learning, adaptable, correctly document findings, ability to scan a full echo and report in 75 minutes.
Schedule Notes

Monday to Friday, varying shifts from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, no weekends or call, 13-week assignment.
