Job summary

TALENT Software Services is looking for a dedicated Cardiac Sonographer in Austin, Minnesota to perform comprehensive echocardiographic studies. You will be responsible for not only conducting echocardiograms but also for ensuring accurate patient data documentation, collaborating with healthcare teams, and participating in stress lab procedures.

The ideal candidate should have an associate's degree or a CAAHEP accredited program with required certifications such as RDCS or RCS along with a solid understanding of cardiovascular diagnostics. Flexibility and excellent communication skills are vital for this role.

Job description

Job Summary

Perform comprehensive echocardiographic studies using a variety of cardiac echo imaging modalities and procedures to gather essential patient data. Accurately document patient data and echo exam information utilizing the Echo Information Management System and other necessary computer applications.

Job Responsibilities
  • Independently perform comprehensive echocardiograms using critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Collaborate with Lead Cardiac Sonographers, Advanced Cardiac Sonographers, Echocardiographers, Physicians, and other team members to assist in interpreting echocardiographic findings.
  • Assist in the orientation, training, and education of trainees, students, and visitors assigned to Cardiovascular Services.
  • Participate in stress lab and stress echo lab procedures, outreach, on‑call practices, and provide coverage during weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
  • Be available for 24‑hour call with a 30‑minute response time required.
  • Provide quality care to patients of all ages, from neonate to geriatric populations, using appropriate knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in learning all equipment, imaging specialties, and echocardiography procedures.
  • Understand sterile procedures and isolation precaution techniques, exercising proper precautions to avoid potential exposures to radiation, infectious hazards, and sharp instruments.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the skills outlined in the appropriate competencies list.
  • Physically capable of frequent walking, standing, pushing, and pulling, with the ability to reach above shoulder level and endure occasional twisting and turning.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, with good hearing and visual acuity.
  • Experience in adult TTE, inpatient and outpatient, emergency, comprehensive understanding of cardiac hemodynamics, PISA quantification, strain, simple pediatric indications (murmur, bicuspid AV, etc., 5 years old and older). Experience in Definity, Optison, and bubble studies (agitated saline).
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven ability to work with co‑workers, physicians, and all levels of healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of cardiac pathophysiology, diagnostic procedures, and patient care procedures.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • One year of cardiac experience is preferred and registry eligible.
  • Minimum of one year experience in adult and pediatric cardiac sonography including experience with transesophageal and stress echo.
  • Experience with outreach services is helpful.
  • Proficient in scanning cardiac abnormalities, quick learning, adaptable, correctly document findings, ability to scan a full echo and report in 60 minutes.
  • Proficient in Client and Phillips machines. EPIC experience preferred.

One of the following is required:

  • Associates degree.
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited sonography program.
