Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an Echo Sonographer II to operate cardiovascular ultrasound equipment and perform transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms to evaluate cardiac structure and function.

You will acquire and document critical data for physician interpretation while ensuring patient safety, quality care, and compliance with department and accrediting standards.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • 1 year Echo experience required at least.
  • ARDMS or CCI certification; AHA BLS certification required.

Performs comprehensive cardiac sonography examinations, including transthoracic echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, and related cardiac imaging studies, to assess cardiac structure, function, hemodynamics, and pathology. Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Monday-Friday. 5-8 hour shifts. Rotating weekends, call & major holidays. No nights.

*Up to $4,000 sign-on bonus available for external candidates with 2-year commitment. Must have at least 1 year of Echo experience.

Job Summary/Purpose

Performs comprehensive cardiac sonography examinations, including transthoracic echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, and related cardiac imaging studies, to assess cardiac structure, function, hemodynamics, and pathology. Minimum Training and Education:

Graduation from a school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Work Experience 0-2 years.

Eligibility Requirement

To be eligible for a Sonographer II, candidate must have at least 1 year of experience as a cardiac echo sonographer.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required

For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
