Job summary

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center in Libby, MT is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to join our Imaging team. You will perform adult and pediatric echocardiography procedures, create preliminary reports, and support interpretation by a cardiologist.

The role requires ARDMS in Adult Echocardiography, at least 2 years of experience, and ACLS. You will collaborate with physicians and nurses, maintain equipment, and contribute to quality improvement efforts in a patient‑centered environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Sonography.
  • ARDMS in Adult Echocardiography.
  • Minimum 2 years of adult echocardiography experience.
  • ACLS certification preferred or required per department policy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and advanced echocardiography procedures (2D, stress, pharmacologic stress, contrast) per protocol.
  • Prepare preliminary reports for cardiologist interpretation including prior study comparison.
  • Operate and maintain echocardiography equipment; perform routine maintenance.
  • Obtain patient history from EMR and ensure patient safety and comfort during exams.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other healthcare staff.
  • Document all information for interpretation, archiving and retrieval of exams.
  • Stay current with echocardiography advancements and protocols.

Job description

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for a Cardiac Sonographer to join our Imaging team!

Perform daily clinical adult and pediatric cardiac ultrasound diagnostic procedures (echocardiography), assessing basic and advanced cardiac anatomy and pathophysiology, creating preliminary reports for interpretation by cardiologist.

Major Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs routine two-dimensional echo, stress echo, pharmacological stress echo, contrast enhanced stress echo, and emergent echo procedures in accordance with standard practice, requiring the ability to learn and understand required advanced echo techniques such as strain imaging.
  • Operates equipment necessary to perform all required procedures. Maintains equipment in working order. Performs routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and reports any equipment malfunction to the vendor or Imaging Manager.
  • Evaluates patient’s electronic medical record and order to obtain patient history, reason for exam, and any necessary information to perform study.
  • Prepares preliminary reports for review and interpretation by cardiologist including comparison of previous studies.
  • Participates in professional education, meetings, and quality improvement projects.
  • Completes documentation of all information required for proper interpretation, reporting, archiving and retrieval of exams.
  • Obtains and interprets patient history, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and understanding throughout the exam.
  • Collaborates effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Stays current with the latest advancements in echocardiography technology and protocols.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
  • Strong Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics.
  • American Heart Association ACLS
Physical or Environmental Conditions

Must possess advanced application of manual dexterity and eye‑hand coordination to perform high volume keyboard input and operation of manually controlled equipment. Visual and auditory acuity is required to ensure that work is done correctly. This position requires the use of personal protective equipment during various tasks and activities. Personal protective equipment includes but is not limited to gloves, masks, safety glasses and gowns.

Education Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Sonography
  • ARDMS in Adult Echocardiography
Experience

Required minimum 2 year experience in adult echocardiography.
