An established healthcare provider seeks a skilled Cardiac Sonographer to perform essential Echocardiograms and contribute to patient care. GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Cardiac Sonographer is primarily responsible for performing Echocardiograms as ordered by physicians.This will include two-dimensional, color flow doppler, pulse wave doppler, continuous wave doppler, and M-mode exams. Additionally, may include Transesophageal, Pediatric Echo, Mobile Echo, Contrast Echo or Bubble Studies.This person assumes on call for patient care and staffing needs. AHA-BLS certification is required however, certification is a not qualifying factor to obtain the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills Required:
1. Understanding of cardiovascular and thoracic anatomy, Cardiovascular pathophysiology and hemodynamics.
2. Knowledge and understanding of ultrasound physics, instrumentation, tissue characteristics, and measurements of blood flow including the biological effects of ultrasound.
3. Familiar with diagnostic test and be able to integrate Echocardiography results with the results of these tests.
4. Knowledge of congenital Heart Disease preferred.
5. Knowledge of Contrast Echocardiography including Bubble Studies.
6. Preferred experience in Trans-esophogeal Echo (TEE), if not will be trained within 6 months of hire to perform TEE.
7. AHA-BLS is required within 6 months of hire or a current non-AHA-BLS card will be honored up to the date of renewal.
8. Cardiac rhythm analysis or obtains within six (6) months of employment.
9. One year of Cardiac Sonography experience preferred.
10. Preferred experience in pediatric Echo, if not will be trained within twelve (12) moths of hire to perform basic pediatric Echo.
11. Applicant must hold active registry or be in the process of obtaining (must be completed within one year of date of hire).(i.e. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (RDCS), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) with specialty of Cardiac Sonography (RCS).
12. Well versed in medical terminology, excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
