Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking an Echo Technologist to join the Non-Invasive Cardiology team in Cambridge, MA. You will perform echocardiograms on outpatients and inpatients, including TEE studies with Cardiologists and stress testing, contributing to high-quality patient care.

The role requires RDMS/RDCS eligibility, current CPR, at least one year of echocardiography experience, and strong interpersonal and technical skills to operate ultrasound equipment safely and follow ASE guidelines.

Qualifications

  • RDMS or RDCS eligibility and current CEUs required.
  • CPR certified and current.
  • Minimum of one year echocardiography experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and team interaction skills.
  • Basic computer skills for patient records and imaging.

Responsibilities

  • Provides competent, compassionate patient care based on scientific principles and physician orders.
  • Performs echocardiograms in accordance with ASE guidelines and safety standards.
  • Uses ultrasound to guide invasive procedures and monitors transesophageal equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, safety, and ongoing clinical knowledge; participates in teaching.
  • Engages in continuous improvement efforts and pre-procedure patient instruction.

Working in Non-Invasive Cardiology. Doing Echocardiograms on out and in patients. This includes doing TEE studies with Cardiologists, stress tests (exercise and dobutamine) and TAVRs.

Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  • Provides competent, compassionate patient care based on scientific principles, ASE guidelines, and physician orders.
  • Performs echocardiograms competently in accordance with technical skills as outlined by ASE for level 1, 2, and 3 echocardiographers. Acquires calculates and performs preliminary interpretation and comparison to prior examinations.
  • Utilizes ultrasound to guide physicians performing invasive procedures, i.e. pericardial centesis, and monitors and controls the temperature of the transesophageal probe.
  • Performs basic tests on equipment and operates equipment adhering to safety instructions of manufacturer and hospital policy and standard practice.
  • Participates in the teaching and training of students in affiliation programs and house staff.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provides patient instruction and teaching pre-procedure.
  • Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills based on current ultrasound practice by maintaining CEU requirements for the registry.
  • Maintains current CPR.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of advanced physics and principles of ultrasound and anatomy and physiology is generally acquired through three years of college training.
  • RDMS or RDCS for RDCS eligible and CEUs current to maintain competency as required by the registry.
  • CPR certified and current.
  • Minimum of one year of echocardiography experience.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary team of healthcare personnel to resolve complex problems.
  • Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements & Environment
  • Normal hospital environment.
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids, infectious diseases, chemicals, and other toxic agents.
  • Ability to walk, bend, and stand for up to 76% of work time; ability to push and pull up to 220 pounds, including patients, and to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work with CRTs up to 90% of the time.
  • Twenty-four-hour call rotation.
Pay Range

$47.00 - $69.84

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
