Job summary

General Purpose of Job

To perform and/or assist cardiologists with all cardiac ultrasound procedures done in the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform and assist cardiologists with all echocardiograms (2-D, M-Mode, TEE, Fetal)
• Prepare an accurate preliminary echocardiogram report for the cardiologist
• Maintain an adequate level of supplies in the department
• Assure that the equipment is in good working order
• Communicate with appropriate personnel regarding department and exams done
• Assist the cardiologists as needed
• Participate in departmental and hospital-wide process improvement
• Ensure that generic/unit safety measures are met in the department
• Travel to out-of-town clinics as needed
• Rotate 24‑hour on‑call duties

Education and/or Experience

• Registry in Sonography (ARDMS or RCVT) or Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school
• One‑year allowance to obtain registry certificates, licenses, registrations
• Registered Echo Tech (ARDMS or CCI) or registry‑eligible BLS (AHA)
