The Cardiac Sonographer performs clinical echocardiographic studies for congenital heart disease on patients ranging from neonatal to adult. The Cardiac Sonographer will receive mentoring and training to obtain proficiency, competency, and knowledge in the field of pediatric echocardiography.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform echocardiograms on patients from newborns to adults, evaluating congenital heart disease with adherence to scanning protocols.
  • Coordinate or oversee projects and initiatives as assigned by leadership.
  • Follow department policies, QA/QC programs, and safety standards while addressing compliance or safety concerns.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and training, maintain flexibility in scheduling, and ensure certifications and credentials are up-to-date.
  • Create accurate preliminary reports, perform all necessary measurements, and promptly alert attending physicians of critical findings.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and colleagues, providing age-appropriate procedure explanations.
  • Assist with cardiac procedures, utilizing low- and high-level disinfection techniques per lab policy.
  • Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment, promptly reporting malfunctions to service engineers or Biomed for repair.
  • Demonstrate competency in using EMR and PACS for modality-specific tasks.
  • Train cardiology fellows, students, and other sonographers after obtaining pediatric credentials and proficiency.
  • Perform echocardiograms on pediatric and adult patients across care systems as needed.
  • Seek knowledge in advanced imaging techniques, including stress echocardiography, 3D imaging, ultrasound-enhancing agents, and research protocols.

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $38.34 to $57.52
