Job summary

Allina Health is seeking an RN for the Mercy Cardiovascular Short Stay to provide pre/post care for CV procedures. In this 12-hour shift role, you will monitor telemetry and assist with anesthesia-related care, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

The ideal candidate has 0–2 years in critical care with ACLS certification and MN/WI RN licensure; a perianesthesia background is a plus. Strong teamwork and ongoing professional development are expected.

Qualifications

  • RN licensed in MN (or WI) on hire; ACLS/ALS certification required.
  • 0–2 years critical care experience; perianesthesia exposure preferred.
  • ACLS trained; able to monitor telemetry and anesthesia-related risks.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and families; develop care plans and outcomes.
  • Coordinate care; delegate tasks to team; ensure patient safety.
  • Monitor anesthesia-related precautions; manage complications.
  • Maintain competencies and adhere to evidence-based practice.

This includes establishing an intentional therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and a patient and family. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating and evaluating the patient’s care needs.Works with patients that are undergoing or recovering from anesthesia or sedation monitoring closely for complications and ensuring the optimal safety and comfort of patients under anesthesia.Principle ResponsibilitiesComprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; supervising the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.Maintains education and competencies to remain proficient to provide high quality patient care practice and skills.Incorporates evidence-based nursing practice taking into consideration current statutes, rules and regulations when developing the plan of care.Establishes, in the collaboration with the family and patient, realistic and measurable patient expected outcomes based on nursing diagnoses, patients present and potential capabilities, goals, available resources and plan for continuity of care.Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.Coordinates, collaborates, and delegates appropriately to ensure care is provided in a safe, effective fashion.Fulfills all organizational requirements.Supplemental roles:Charge Nurse (only when acting in this role).
