THE CARDIAC AND VASCULAR INSTITUTE is a cardiology practice in Gainesville, FL. We are passionate about providing the highest quality of cardiovascular care to North Central Florida. We are proud to be certified as a GREAT PLACE TO WORK. We are seeking a CARDIAC MONITOR TECH to join our team. This position is located in zip code 32605.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for performing stress tests in the Nuclear Laboratory (routine, SPECT and PET stress tests) and general patient care.

LOCATION: Roaming: Gainesville and Lake City

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of stress testing protocols and EKG interpretation.
  • Prepares patient procedure paperwork prior to testing and ensures proper order, diagnosis, insurance information, and all documentation is obtained prior to the procedure.
  • Performs patient assessment, preparation, and procedures according to established nuclear lab guidelines.
  • Monitors patients to recognize changes in their condition and functions effectively in emergencies.
  • Provides accurate information regarding procedures and test results to patients and families.
  • Obtains essential information from patients, medical records, and previous studies for clinical correlation.
  • Submits diagnostic exams to physicians for interpretation.
  • Assists in life-saving techniques (CPR, first aid) if necessary.
  • Practices sterile technique, prevents cross-contamination, and handles blood and body fluids appropriately.
  • Starts intravenous lines with a maximum of two attempts using aseptic technique.
  • Wears radiation badges and maintains ALARA principles.
  • Performs patient care tasks as appropriate.
  • Maintains exam rooms, ensures cleanliness, and prepares necessary supplies.
  • Maintains equipment through cleaning and scheduled quality control checks, reporting discrepancies to the manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to the position.

EDUCATION: Certified or Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Certified EMT or Paramedic, or any other cardiac stress testing training required.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum one year or more of relevant experience and/or training.

REQUIREMENTS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) CPR certification maintained. Completion of required competencies within 90 days of employment.

ENVIRONMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS: Combination of office, exam, and clinical settings. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other hazards common in clinics.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, pushing, pulling, reaching, kneeling, grasping, sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, and manual dexterity. Full range of motion required. Occasional stressful conditions and irregular hours.
