Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a qualified cardiopulmonary rehab professional to participate in planning, supervising, and performing cardiac testing for patients in a hospital/fitness setting. You will collaborate with physicians, interpret EKGs, and tailor exercise prescriptions to individual needs while ensuring patient safety across multiple rehab sites.

Responsibilities include stress testing, data collection, and contributing to performance improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in hospital or fitness setting.
• B.S. in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science from an accredited school or University.
• ACLS
• Completion of EKG course
• M.S. preferred in cardiac setting
• ACSM certification preferred
• Specialized training in cardiovascular disease or cardiac unit experience preferred
• Ability to work at all 5 Virtua Outpatient Cardiopulmonary Rehab sites

Responsibilities

• Participate in program planning, supervision, cardiac testing, and counseling of patients enrolled in cardiopulmonary rehab.
• Perform outpatient treadmill exercise stress tests, nuclear exercise stress tests, pharmacologic stress tests, and stress echocardiography tests in lieu of RN or physician presence.
• Collaborate with physicians to deliver high-quality diagnostic testing.
• Interpret EKGs and establish initial individualized exercise prescriptions.
• Assure patient safety in the use of exercise equipment.
• Manage care within scope of practice for patients enrolled in Supervised Exercise Training for PAD and during cardiac testing.
• Assist with hemodynamic and physical measurements.
• Assist with emergency management within scope of practice.
• Maintain patient outcome data and assist with special projects such as community education.
• Interpret objective signs and symptoms, including telemetry, and modify exercise accordingly.
• Monitor patient vitals at rest, during, and after exercise.
• Enter, report, and analyze patient outcomes; use data for performance improvement projects.
• Evaluate and document patient EKGs, exercise tolerance, blood pressure response, arrhythmias, symptoms, test termination reasons, ST changes, and overall stress-test impressions.
• Manage all aspects of the PAD program, including case management.
• Assist with case management and individualized treatment plans for cardiac and pulmonary rehab patients.
• Review charts before cardiac testing.
• Follow protocols for physician orders or medical attention for patients in distress.
• Collaborate with physicians regarding next steps and further testing.
• Explain exams and address patient questions or concerns.
• Maintain exercise equipment as primary liaison with Biomed.
• Recommend equipment repairs, replacements, or additional equipment.
• Maintain equipment manuals in accordance with TJC requirements
