As a specialized healthcare professional, you will play a crucial role in providing evidence-based, high quality cardiac care, improving patient outcomes. Our highly trained cardiac nurses care for a wide variety of cardiac conditions including heart attacks, heart failure, cardiac procedures and heart arrhythmias.

Our highly trained cardiac nurses care for a wide variety of cardiac conditions including heart attacks, heart failure, cardiac procedures and heart arrhythmias.

  • Caring for patients admitted to our heart and vascular unit
  • Collaborating with cardiologists, EKG techs, echo techs, and others
  • Monitoring and interpretation of patient vital signs and cardiac rhythms and communicate any changes indicating a more serious condition
  • You’ll be a trusted educator and resource for your patients’ recovery and prevention of reoccurring issues thanks to the care plans you develop and implement

We are offering a $20,000 sign on bonus and relocation assistance for this position.

Qualifications

  • Required Education and Experience
  • Associates Degree in Nursing plus five (5) years of RN experience OR Bachelors in Nursing plus three (3) years of RN experience
  • Demonstrated competence in Registered Nurse II performance expectations or meets experience requirements upon hire
  • Required Licensure and Certifications
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • Current, approved national certification: https://www.nursingworld.org/organizationalprograms/magnet/accepted‐certifications
  • American Heart Association BLS-CPR
  • ACLS within 6 months
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
  • Effective Communication
  • Knowledge of the principles and skills of the nursing process to provide patient care and treatment.
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal
  • Basic Computer skills – familiarity with Windows based software programs.

St. Joseph’s Progressive Care Unit is an intermediate level of care between general hospital floors and an intensive care unit (ICU), providing a step-down unit for patients transitioning from critical care.

PCU patient’s conditions require more frequent monitoring than general units but aren't unstable enough for ICU care.
