Job summary

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC is seeking dedicated Cardiac Perfusionists to support the Richmond VA Healthcare System in Richmond, VA. The role involves on-site perfusion services for complex cardiothoracic procedures and close collaboration with the surgical team.

Responsibilities include managing heart-lung machines, ECMO, and ventricular assist devices, maintaining circuits, and ensuring patient safety and accurate documentation in the VA EHR.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Allied Health Education Program in Perfusion Technology.
• Current ABCP certification.
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum 2 years of perfusion experience.
• Minimum 200 clinical perfusion procedures completed.
• Experience with open-heart surgery, autotransfusion, heart-lung machines, ECMO, and ventricular assist devices.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite board-certified perfusion services for cardiothoracic procedures.
• Assist CT surgery with open-heart surgeries and valve replacements.
• Prepare, operate, and maintain perfusion equipment and circuits.
• Maintain extracorporeal circulation and hemodynamic stability during procedures.
• Document and review patient records and surgical plans; ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Complete QA/QI documentation and timesheets; report safety incidents as required.

Overview

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting multiple Cardiac Perfusionist to support the Richmond VA Healthcare System located at 1201 Broad Rock Blvd, Richmond, VA 23249. The work schedule is expected to be Monday-Friday with on call. Responsibilities

• Provide onsite Board-Certified Perfusion Services for veteran patients undergoing cardiothoracic procedures.
• Assist Cardio-Thoracic Surgery with:
  • Open-heart surgeries
  • Valve replacement procedures
  • Emergency cardiac procedures
• Prepare, operate, and maintain:
  • Heart-lung machines
  • Autotransfusion pumps
  • Intra-aortic balloon pumps
  • Centrifugal ventricular assist devices
• Maintain extracorporeal circulation during surgical procedures.
• Maintain appropriate blood volume and circulation support during surgery.
• Prevent shock and air emboli during procedures.
• Assemble equipment and supplies for emergent cardiopulmonary support situations.
• Support patients requiring:
  • ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation)
  • Balloon pump therapy
  • Other advanced circulatory support modalities.
• Review patient records and surgical plans prior to procedures.
• Document treatment plans and patient care in the VA Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Complete and maintain transfusion documentation, including SF-518 forms.
• Enter assessments, treatment plans, outcomes, and follow-up recommendations into patient records within required timeframes.
• Ensure compliance with privacy, HIPAA, and VA documentation requirements.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and meetings as required.
• Attend staff meetings as directed by Surgical Service leadership.
• Complete QA/QI documentation for procedures, complications, and outcomes.
• Complete weekly timesheets and attendance documentation.
• Report patient safety incidents within 24 hours.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Allied Health Education Program School of Perfusion Technology.
• Current certification through the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certification.
• Minimum 2 years of perfusion experience.
• Minimum 200 clinical perfusion cases completed.
• Demonstrated experience with:
  • Open-heart surgery
  • Autotransfusion
  • Heart-lung machines
  • Membrane oxygenation
  • Left/right heart bypass
  • Intra-aortic balloon pumping
  • Centrifugal ventricular assist devices
• Current, full, unrestricted license, registration, certification, or credential as required by the profession and applicable state regulations.

• Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
• Lift up to 20 lbs
