Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to support the department operations and patient flow. You will handle charting, medication logistics, and essential communication with care teams while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

The role requires high school education, hospital experience, and a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with duties including handling admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed.

Qualifications

• Sufficient knowledge of English and spelling to perform non-clinical duties.
• Neat and legible handwriting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Computer and typing skills.
• Organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation of the department.
• Notifies physicians and other departments when necessary and documents in charts and EHR.
• Accesses medication room to place medications securely on arrival to the floor.
• Interacts with patients appropriate to age, acuity, and culture.
• Posts pertinent patient data timely and responds in emergencies.
