Job summary

The University of Minnesota invites applications for a Basic Science and Clinical Outcomes Researcher in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The role is a continuing, 12-month appointment under the direction of Dr.

Rosemary Kelly, MD. Responsibilities include supporting clinical outcomes research with cardiac surgery databases, performing experiments related to chronic myocardial ischemia, data analysis, and scientific writing for manuscripts and grants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in natural science with 6+ years combined education/work experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience with basic laboratory assays and molecular biology techniques.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and sit/stand for long periods; PPE use.

Responsibilities

  • Support clinical outcomes research using cardiac surgery databases.
  • Perform experiments related to chronic myocardial ischemia with tissue/cell cultures.
  • Conduct proteomic analysis and molecular biology techniques.
  • Maintain records and lab areas; ensure cleanliness and stocking.
  • Calibrate equipment and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Develop and revise SOPs; maintain detailed experimental notes.
  • Analyze molecular biology assays and microscopy/MRI data.
  • Prepare reports and present data at lab meetings; assist in manuscripts and grants.
