Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a surgical technology training program or military training.
• 0–<12 months healthcare experience.
• BLS Certification.
• New grads must obtain credential within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Functions in a professional manner as the Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room.
• Maintains aseptic technique during setup, draping and procedures.
• Scrubs on cases, organizes instrumentation for the surgeon and participates in counts.
• Prepares instruments, supplies and equipment for cases.
• Performs duties under the surgeon's direction.
• Completes counts with the circulating nurse per OR policy.
• Manages intraoperative medications per policy.
• Handles surgical specimens per physician orders.
• Follows decontamination and room turnover procedures.
• Assists with patient positioning and movement as needed.
• Reports equipment/supply issues to Charge Nurse or Clinical Leadership.
• Supports room turnover and participates in quality improvement activities.
