Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking a CVOR First Assist to join our cardiac surgical team. This role supports surgeons in invasive procedures, ensures sterile technique and patient safety, and participates in high-stakes cardiac cases including TAVR.

The successful candidate will have scrub experience, be able to take call, and work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and collaboration across the operating room team.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED; graduate of an approved first assistant program (CAAHEP).
• Minimum 2 years surgical scrub experience; CV or related OR experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write and speak English; strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Available for emergency call with 30-45 minute response time.

Responsibilities

• Take call independently with advanced cardiac surgery skills for all cardiac procedures including TAVR.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology; assist in CV surgeries.
• May second assist and/or first assist during CV surgery.
• Prepare supplies, sterilization, and equipment for procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and assist with patient safety.
