Job summary

AHP Staffing is seeking an experienced Acute Care Cardiac Nurse Practitioner to support the Cardiology Division at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS). This is a 1 year + contract assignment with potential for renewal. The role pays $125/hour with a 40-hour workweek.

Responsibilities include managing cardiac patients, heart failure care, device management, and coordinating with the cardiology team. US citizenship required for federal positions.

Qualifications

• ACNP/AGACNP eligible for this role.
• Active NP license is required.
• Minimum 1 year outpatient Cardiology NP experience.
• At least 1 year of direct patient care within last 3 years.
• Current BLS & ACLS certifications.
• VA experience preferred but not required.
• U.S. citizen for federal employment positions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate/manage new and established patients with cardiac diagnoses.
• Provide ongoing management of patients with heart failure.
• Evaluate/manage pacemakers, ICDs, and other cardiac devices.
• Monitor exercise tolerance tests.
• Perform comprehensive assessments and create treatment plans.
• Diagnose/treat acute, chronic, and long-term cardiovascular conditions.
• Order/interpret diagnostic tests.
• Prescribe/manage pharmacological treatment within scope.
• Collaborate with cardiologists, physicians, nursing staff and team.
• Educate patients and families on cardiac conditions, meds, and prevention.
• Document care in VA EMR systems.

• Schedule: Full-Time | 40 hours/week
• Length: This is a 1 year + contract assignment with potential for future contract opportunities/renewal based on VA needs.

• ACNP or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP/ACNPC-AG)
• Active NP license
• Minimum 1 year outpatient Cardiology NP experience
• At least 1 year of direct patient care within the last 3 years
• Current BLS & ACLS
• VA experience preferred, but not required
• Must be a U.S Citizen for federal employment positions

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage new and established patients with cardiac diagnoses
• Provide ongoing management of patients with heart failure
• Evaluate and manage pacemakers, implanted cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and other cardiac implanted electronic devices
• Monitor exercise tolerance testing
• Perform comprehensive assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans
• Diagnose and treat acute, chronic, and long-term cardiovascular conditions
• Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing
• Prescribe and manage pharmacological treatment within scope of practice
• Collaborate with cardiologists, physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team
• Educate patients and families regarding cardiac conditions, medications, treatment, and preventive care
• Document patient care within VA electronic medical record systems
