NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk - Cardiac Monitor Technician (Part-Time)

NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk is a 306-bed medical center serving eastern Long Island, featuring the Knapp Cardiac Care Center, a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion, and a Level 2 Trauma Center. Position Summary

We are seeking a Part-Time Cardiac Monitor Technician to operate telemetry monitoring equipment, identify cardiac rhythm variations, and support diagnostic and treatment processes. The role involves labeling ECG strips, maintaining equipment, and assisting in staff orientation.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Telemetry Monitoring
  • Observe cardiac telemetry monitors, set alarm parameters, and obtain baseline strips.
  • Identify dysrhythmias, label strips correctly, and notify nursing staff of critical events.
  • Maintain patient and monitoring data, order supplies, and ensure accurate documentation.
  1. Safety
  • Maintain equipment, troubleshoot issues, and report problems to Biomedical Engineering or supervisors.
  • Ensure safety by recognizing hazards and maintaining proper documentation.
  1. Customer/Interpersonal Relations
  • Support patient and staff satisfaction through effective communication and teamwork.
  • Participate in quality improvement and adhere to organizational appearance standards.
  1. Continuing Education and Meetings
  • Stay updated on industry trends through literature and seminars.
  • Attend required staff meetings.
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required. Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic. Knowledge of medical terminology and sciences. Analytical skills to recognize abnormal rhythms. Must pass an 85% Dysrhythmia Proficiency Exam.

Effective communication skills are essential.
