Position Title

Cardiac Monitor Technician, FT Nights, Olathe Nights - Full Time

Olathe Hospital, 20333 W. 151st St.

Position Summary / Career Interest

This full-time position at Olathe Medical Center is scheduled from 6:45pm to 7:15am, requiring availability every third weekend and weekdays (M-F).

The technician monitors noninvasive cardiac activity and other clinical parameters of patient populations from adolescence to geriatric, using continuous electrocardiographic display and pulse oximetry. Responsibilities include interpreting rhythms, performing critical alarm handoffs with nursing staff, maintaining monitoring data, and providing daily reports for the medical records via electronic shift reports into the EMR.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Actively monitors cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry, reviews alarms, scans 24-hour data, and performs arrhythmia analysis.
  • Interprets and documents cardiac rhythm strips, maintains rate and rhythm documentation, and provides 24-hour reports and discharge summaries via shift report.
  • Communicates timely with nursing units regarding changes in patient rhythm status, providing critical alarm handoffs.
  • Verifies patient identity and telemetry box placement using two-person ID verification to ensure safety.
  • Records telemetry box placement during admissions and discharges in the EMR.
  • Ensures communication staff assignments are complete across all units and sites, providing real-time feedback.
  • Performs clerical activities, including utilizing Box Status Reports and scanning documentation into the EMR.
  • Adheres to HIPAA requirements, maintaining confidentiality of all data.
  • Uses technology appropriately for data entry and security.
  • Manages time effectively, prioritizes tasks, and makes appropriate decisions regarding patient care.
  • Performs the professional, clinical, and technical competencies required by the department.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Required Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Certified Cardiovascular Technician School or comparable certification
  • Experience with Holter scanning, stress testing, or telemetry
Required Licensure and Certification
  • CPR/AED/BLS (or other BLS certification within 14 days)
Preferred Licensure and Certification
  • Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) - CCI
