Job Description - CARDIAC MONITOR TECH - (Temple/Jeans Campus - 24 hours rotating) (250589)

Organizes the activities of the nursing unit by performing clerical, receptionist and support duties and maintaining the physical environment of the unit. Assures adequate supplies and equipment to provide care to the patients on the unit, assuring efficient bed turnover, coordinating transportation needs for inter-hospital transports, filing documents into and maintaining an orderly and comprehensive medical record for every patient. Observes patient's rhythms on telemetry monitors, continually assesses patient's baseline rhythm and communicates any changes according to department procedures. Maintains inventory of telemetry and cardiac monitoring supplies, tracks telemetry transmitters, orders supplies, assesses and reports any system malfunctions or equipment breakdowns. Submits telemetry charges and submits all appropriate records as assigned.


Education
  1. High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
  2. Other: Completed course work in medical terminology (Preferred)
  3. Trade School: Medical Assistant and or EKG Technician program (Preferred)
  4. Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience
  1. General Experience in a role requiring competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation (Preferred)
  2. General Experience working in a hospital environment and handling patients, or related healthcare position (Preferred)
