Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; CET certification preferred but not required, or documented on-the-job EKG training with at least 1 year of patient care experience.
• Experience with Holter monitor scanning and stress treadmill procedures preferred.
• Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and electrocardiography principles.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy in recording and interpreting EKG data.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and healthcare team members.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain composure in fast-paced clinical environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrocardiogram (EKG) tests on patients using EKG machines and related equipment.
• Prepare patients for EKG procedures by explaining the process, positioning patients, and attaching electrodes.
• Ensure proper functioning and calibration of EKG equipment, troubleshoot issues, and maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Record and document EKG results accurately, including patient information and test conditions.
• Collaborate with cardiologists and nurses to relay EKG findings and assist in patient care decisions.
• Monitor patients during EKG procedures for discomfort, distress, or adverse reactions and respond appropriately.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in handling cardiac data.
• Assist in scheduling and coordinating EKG appointments for efficient workflow.
