Job summary

UNC Health Rex Heart and Vascular Diagnosti in Raleigh, NC is seeking an EKG technician for per diem weekend shifts. You will instruct and prepare patients for EKG tests, operate EKG machines, monitor equipment, and assist with treadmill stress testing. Prior stress test experience is preferred; BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities include recording results in the MUSE system and maintaining patient records, while ensuring safety and collaborating with the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved EKG class.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification.

Responsibilities

• Instructs, prepares, and pre-assesses patients for EKG tests, stress testing and/or monitoring devices.
• Operates EKG machines and attaches electrodes to patients to obtain readings.
• Monitors EKG equipment during tests and troubleshoots issues.
• Verifies data on scanner printouts for physician interpretation.
• Sets up and assists with exercise treadmill stress testing.
• Records and edits test results and provides preliminary reports to licensed caregivers.
• Maintains patient records in the Cardiac Information Management System (MUSE).
