Job summary

Kern Medical is seeking a Medical Assistant I for the Cardiac Diagnostic Lab in a temporary, full-time role. The position involves basic outpatient clinic duties under supervision, including vital signs, specimen handling, immunizations, and assisting with exams.

Preferred candidates are bilingual English/Spanish and have completed an accredited Medical Assistant program. A 60-day window to acquire BLS is provided; CMA certification within one year is encouraged. Extra benefits may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Possible CMA certification within one year of appointment or employment.
• BLS Healthcare Provider certification required or must be obtained within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare for exams.
• Take and record vital signs and other measurements; document chief complaint and allergies.
• Administer immunizations and medications as ordered; collect, prepare and transport specimens.
• Assist provider with exams and minor procedures; act as chaperon as needed.
• Maintain infection control by cleaning and disinfecting equipment and rooms.
• Manage patient records, referrals, and eligibility forms.
