Job summary

Lifepoint Health's FryeCare Cardiology in Hickory, NC, is seeking a Cardiac Device Technician to support cardiovascular care and patient safety. You will perform procedures, operate imaging equipment, assist during catheterizations, and ensure accurate documentation.

Ideal candidates graduate from Radiologic or Cardiovascular Technology programs, hold RCIS or ARRT, and have BLS certification (within 90 days if not current). One year of cardiovascular lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology program.
  • RCIS certification or ARRT credential required or for consideration.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of employment if not current at hire.
  • One year cardiovascular lab or related procedures experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cardiovascular and vascular procedures, monitoring diagnostic and interventional procedures per standards.
  • Operates specialized imaging equipment used in diagnostic and therapeutic Cath Lab procedures.
  • Assists physicians during cardiac and vascular catheterization procedures.
  • Scrubs at the tableside and monitors patients as assigned.
  • Transports patients as necessary and prepares equipment for procedures.
  • Selects exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and conducts quality-control for equipment.
  • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and reports issues.
  • Performs vascular and cardiac procedures involving imaging equipment.
  • Maintains accurate documentation related to procedures and patient care.

How you'll contribute

A Cardiac Device Technician who excels in this role:

  • Performs cardiovascular and vascular procedures, including monitoring diagnostic and interventional procedures, in accordance with the applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Operates specialized equipment used in diagnostic and vascular testing and therapeutic interventions performed in the Cardiac/Vascular Cath Lab.
  • Assists physicians during cardiac and vascular catheterization procedures.
  • Scrubs at the tableside and monitors patients as assigned.
  • Transports patients as necessary.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies for procedures.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements established safety standards and performs appropriate quality-control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Performs vascular and cardiac procedures involving the operation of imaging equipment.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation related to procedures and patient care.

What we're looking for

We are looking for a skilled and dependable Cardiac Device Technician who possesses strong technical abilities, sound clinical judgment, and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality cardiovascular care.

Applicants should be graduates of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology. Additional requirements include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a program in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification or Registered Radiographer credential through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Thorough working knowledge of practices and procedures within a Cardiac/Vascular Cath Lab.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, required within 90 days of employment if not current upon hire.
  • One year of cardiovascular lab or special procedures experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform vascular and cardiac procedures involving imaging equipment and assist physicians during catheterization procedures.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
