Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Cardiovascular Technologist to assist physicians with invasive cardiac and peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including pacemaker placement, primarily in our catheterization lab in Hackensack, NJ.

Responsibilities include preparing equipment, assisting with hemodynamic monitoring, calibrating equipment, managing supply inventory, and ensuring CVIS documentation, while upholding HMH core values and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technologist program or radiologic technologist program or graduate of an applied science program.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and organizes equipment and sterile tray for each procedure.
• Assists procedure room team with the positioning and preparation of patient monitoring.
• Calibrates and tests transducers for accurate pressure readings.
• Assists physicians throughout diagnostic, and/or interventional procedures.
• Loads and operates power injector and associated sterile support equipment.
• Maneuvers the table controls for physicians, as requested.
• Calibrates hemodynamic monitoring equipment and obtains, calculates, and analyzes all hemodynamic data assembled during the procedure.
• Calculates and records cardiac output and oximetry readings.
• Utilizes and maintains the required standards for the operation of digital cine technologies including protocols for storage and retrieval of patient's images and hemodynamic records.
• Assists with vascular access, sheath removal and hemostatic closure devices while maintaining hemostasis at the access site.
• Assists in management of inventory control, maintenance of PAR levels and preparation of required equipment for each procedure.
• Adheres to practice requirements related to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS)
• Operates equipment safely: Prepares and cares for equipment, returns supplies as necessary.
• Participates in the catheterization lab on call responsibilities as per the organizational policy and procedure.
• Application of radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis at the access site.
• Recognizes and interprets all cardiac arrhythmias
• Assists with maintenance, calibration and routine periodic evaluation of all diagnostic and technical equipment.
• Lifts a minimum of 40 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 100 lbs. and stands a minimum of 4 hours a day.
