Job summary

Highmark Health in the Pittsburgh region seeks a Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology Technologist to support an invasive cardiology service. You will assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures and help ensure patient safety and smooth lab operations.

The role requires strong knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, certification eligibility per ARRT/CVIR, and the ability to lead and train staff while maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with HIPAA.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in a cardiac cath lab or interventional radiology.
• ARRT/ CVIR/ R/ VI certification as listed by ARRT or Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
• Critical thinking, decisive and independent judgment.
• Preferred Associate Degree.
• ACLS CPR and background clearances as required.

• Maintains expertise in radiographic imagery techniques related to invasive cardiac and peripheral procedures.
• Orients inexperienced staff on equipment operation; troubleshoots malfunctions; knows support personnel contacts.
• Anticipates adverse reactions/conditions during procedures and responds appropriately.
• Completes required documentation for procedures (regulatory, billing, image storage and archival).

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This job assists the Invasive Cardiologist in the performance of diagnostic and interventional procedures; demonstrates leadership in collaboration with co-workers to achieve efficient and cost-effective functioning of the department.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Integrates knowledge of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular physiology, pathophysiology, and procedural techniques being performed, and assists accordingly. (45%)
• Mentains expertise in current radiographic imagery techniques as they relate to invasive cardiac and peripheral procedures. (15%)
• Orients inexperienced staff on the operation of laboratory equipment; troubleshoots malfunctions, and is knowledgeable of proper support personnel and instances when they need to be contacted. (15%)
• Anticipates adverse reactions / conditions when monitoring the effects of all procedural activities, and responds appropriately. (15%)
• Completes required documentation for procedures e.g. regulatory, billing protocols and image storage and archival. (10%)

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a cardiac cath lab or interventional radiology.
• Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) -OR- Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) -OR- Radiography (R) – OR-Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) certification issued by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist with Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
• Critical thinking, decisive and independent judgment.
• Preferred Associate Degree.
