Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a skilled professional to assist the Invasive Cardiologist during diagnostic and interventional procedures, providing leadership and collaboration to ensure efficient and cost-effective operation of the lab.

Responsibilities include applying knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, maintaining radiographic imaging expertise, orienting new staff, monitoring for adverse reactions, documenting procedures, and performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a cardiac cath lab or interventional radiology.
• ARRT radiography certification or CVIS/CVI certification.
• Strong critical thinking, decisive judgment and independent work.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Invasive Cardiologist during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Maintains expertise in radiographic imaging techniques related to invasive procedures.
• Orients new staff on operation of laboratory equipment and troubleshoots malfunctions.
• Anticipates adverse reactions and responds appropriately during procedures.
• Completes required documentation for procedures (regulatory, billing, image storage).
• Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This job assists the Invasive Cardiologist in the performance of diagnostic and interventional procedures; demonstrates leadership in collaboration with co-workers to achieve efficient and cost effective functioning of the department.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Integrates knowledge of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular physiology, pathophysiology, and procedural techniques being performed, and assists accordingly. (45%)
• Maintains expertise in current radiographic imagery techniques as they relate to invasive cardiac and peripheral procedures. (15%)
• Orients new staff on the operation of laboratory equipment. Troubleshoots malfunctions, and is knowledgeable of proper support personnel and instances when they need to be contacted. (15%)
• Anticipates adverse reactions/conditions when monitoring the effects of procedural activities, and responds appropriately. (15%)
• Completes all required documentation for procedures e.g., regulatory, billing protocols, and image storage and archival (10%)
• Performs all other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 3 years in a cardiac cath lab or interventional radiology
• Radiography Certification and Registration with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist with Cardiovascular Credentialing International
• Requires critical thinking, decisive and independent judgment.
• Preferred Associate's Degree preferred.
