Qualifications

• Three (3) years current medical/surgical nursing in an acute care setting or specialty area.
• CA RN license required at hire.
• BLS certification required at hire.
• ACLS certification required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Abuse Protection and Reporting: Assesses and identifies and reports patient abuse and neglect i.e.: physical assault, rape or other molestation, domestic abuse and neglect of elders and children and implements department policies and procedures.
• Advance Directives: Documents education regarding advance directives upon admission, coordinates efforts to obtain copy of Advance Directives to place on chart, and refers questions to Chaplain Services.
• Advocacy, Patient: Acts as the client’s advocate, by initiating action to improve health care or to change decisions or activities which are against the interests or wishes of the client.
• Assessment: Formulates nursing diagnoses and prioritizes patient problems through observation and information from the client and healthcare team.
• Blood Withdrawal: Identifies patient and demonstrates aseptic technique for withdrawal and processing of blood specimens.
• Central Line Care and Maintenance: Demonstrates technique for care, maintenance and discontinuing of central lines.
