Under the direction of the divisional director of the service, the manager is responsible for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital, nursing department, and cardiac catheterization laboratory, and their effect on patient care in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. The manager has the authority to make decisions on that unit in the areas of patient care, human resources, and financial management. Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day flow of the cath lab and echocardiography unit.
Effective leadership through communication, collaboration, and interaction with physicians and staff in the delivery of Cardiovascular Services.
Manage services efficiently by planning, organizing, and adjusting activities for maximum productivity.
Schedule work assignments and coordinate service requests to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
In conjunction with the Cardiovascular Service Line Director, determine staffing needs and patterns, and recommend appropriate staffing levels and classifications consistent with unit authorization and productivity benchmarks.
Make recommendations for employment, termination, and disciplinary actions regarding department personnel.
Evaluate subordinates regularly.
Supervise daily business functions of the service, including charge capture and reconciliation.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge in areas of responsibility to recommend new series, products, and equipment.
Monitor and maintain unit compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies for patient services, environmental, and personnel safety.
Oversee unit CQI programs, which monitor and evaluate critical aspects of care.
Identify real or potential problems affecting the service and implement solutions with follow-through and communication.
Handle multiple priorities effectively.
Manage emotional responses such as anger, fear, and hostility.
Manage stress appropriately.
Work effectively alone and in close proximity to others, including in distracting environments.
Work collaboratively with others.
