Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking an accomplished, board-certified cardiac anesthesiologist to serve as Division Director of Cardiac Anesthesiology within the Department of Anesthesiology at Albany Medical Center / Albany Medical College in Albany, NY.

The role involves strategic leadership, advancing clinical, educational, and research missions, mentoring trainees, and guiding perioperative care for complex cardiac and thoracic procedures.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or foreign equivalent required.
• Board Certification in Anesthesiology required.
• Fellowship in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology preferred.
• Certification in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography preferred.
• Eligibility for unrestricted licensure in New York State required.
• Evidence of leadership in an academic or large clinical practice setting required.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of cardiac anesthesia services across Albany Medical Center.
• Lead initiatives to enhance patient safety, quality, efficiency, and outcomes in cardiac perioperative care.
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgery, structural heart, heart failure, and interventional cardiology leadership.
• Support expansion of valve repair/replacement, MCS, TAVR, aortic surgery, heart failure therapies, and other advanced cardiovascular procedures.
• Maintain clinical excellence through active participation in cardiac anesthesia practice.
