Job summary

Milliken and Company is seeking a Card Operator for the 2nd shift in Gaffney, SC. The role focuses on operating cards to produce high quality sliver, performing necessary cleaning, and following safety rules.

Responsibilities include repairing end breaks, identifying blends by ID color bands, reporting off-quality sliver, and maintaining cleanliness and orderly storage. Prior experience with card operations preferred.

• Perform shift cleaning to ensure high quality sliver is produced.

Primary Duties

• OperateCards to produce high quality sliver and perform necessary cleaning.

Tools Required

• Hand roller picker, steel toe shoes, OSHA approved air nozzle for compressed air, safety glasses, brush, ear plugs, gloves, and broom.

Materials Used

• Empty cans, ID bands.

Supervision Exercised

• None; receives instructions from Supervisor or Shift Lead Person. Shift Technician to provide follow-up.

Job Procedures

• Follow all established Plant Safety rules.
• Repair end breaks, tags, and other quality concerns.
• Doff full cans of sliver and place empty can in can changer.
• Identifyblend by placingcorrectID band color on cans.
• Capture any suspected off-quality sliver. Identify with aNon-Conformancesheet, move to theNon-Conformancearea next to the Yarn Mill Lab, and report to Technician, Shift Lead Person, or Supervisor.
• Patrol job andinspect forany tags in the sliver path and remove them to ensure high quality sliver is produced.
• Perform shift cleaning to ensure high qualitysliveris produced.
• Align and straighten full and empty card cans in the storage area during your shift and at the end of your shift.
• Place waste in proper containers.
• Perform all other duties as directed by management.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Mustbe able to read and write.
• Musthave basic math skills.
• Must be cleared by Occupational Nurse for vision and color vision.

Follow all Safety Rules andcomply withthe Job Safety & Health Analysis (JSHA). All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be used as required. Any accident or near miss must be reportedimmediately.
