Job description

About B4ECarbon:

B4ECarbon is a carbon credit facilitation platform co-developed with oil and gas operators to bring transparency, compliance, and defensibility to methane-based credits. We translate high-impact emissions reductions—such as well plugging and leak detection—into credit-ready units supported by regulatory-grade data and verified policy logic. Our work spans voluntary and compliance-grade carbon markets and integrates carbon credits, offsets, and environmental compliance reporting into fully auditable credit lifecycles.

Role Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Carbon Credit Methodology & MRV Specialist to serve as an advisor or consultant to our product, data, and policy development teams. This role focuses on interpreting and operationalizing emissions methodologies for both regulatory (e.g., EPA CET, Subpart W/C) and voluntary frameworks (e.g., ACR, Verra, Gold Standard, EU ETS, BCarbon). The ideal candidate will help validate inputs, shape quantification logic, and ensure our MRV systems meet the rigor required for third-party verification, credit issuance, and registry acceptance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and extract applicable requirements from EPA, ACR, Verra, Gold Standard, EU ETS, BCarbon, and related protocols.
  • Guide the conversion of carbon methodologies (e.g., P&A, LDAR, methane abatement) into programmable structures for digital MRV systems.
  • Validate key input parameters (emission factors, leak rates, volumetric flows, etc.) against registry or regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with software and product teams to structure technical requirements for MRV implementation.
  • Evaluate data quality and sufficiency from sensors (e.g., KUVA, Nevaran), drones, satellites, and SCADA systems to ensure registry alignment.
  • Support the development of defensible documentation and audit-ready outputs for third-party verification bodies (VVBs).
  • Liaise with registries and verification bodies to resolve interpretive gaps and maintain methodological alignment.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in carbon accounting, environmental compliance reporting, MRV design, or related fields.
  • Deep familiarity with EPA 40 CFR Part 98, especially Subparts W and C, and emerging EPA CET policy.
  • Practical experience applying methodologies from one or more of the following: ACR, Verra, Gold Standard, EU ETS, BCarbon.
  • Knowledge of carbon offsets, credit issuance processes, and GHG quantification frameworks.
  • Strong working knowledge of quantification approaches including decline curve modeling, emissions equations, and avoided emissions logic.
  • Excellent technical writing skills and the ability to prepare materials for VVB, registry, or auditor review.
  • Preferred but not required: Experience with renewable energy credits (RECs) or REC reporting systems.
  • In lieu of a formal engineering degree, significant experience at a registry, verification body, or standards organization will be considered.

Engagement Details:

  • Type: Independent contractor or project-based advisor.
  • Duration: 60–90 days initially, with potential for ongoing or extended engagements.
  • Time Commitment: Flexible, estimated 10–20 hours/week.
  • Compensation: Competitive hourly or milestone-based pay.
