Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. in East Longmeadow, MA is seeking a Carbide Grind Operator. You will set up and operate grinding equipment to produce carbide tipped saw products, adjust tooling, and monitor quality through inspections.

The role requires basic math with decimals, micrometers knowledge, and adherence to safety rules. Training shift occurs, with a strong emphasis on precision and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required/preferred.
• 1–2 years’ experience in an operator role preferred.
• Knowledge of charts, specifications and micrometers required.
• Ability to work with numbers including decimals.
• Light physical effort, lifting 5–25 pounds, is expected.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate multiple machines and equipment to produce Carbide Tipped Saw products following established practices.
• Adjust guides, vise, and payoff; align grinding wheels to achieve required rake angles and heights; manage speeds and feeds for efficiency.
• Load coils with overhead hoist and move materials with hydraulic/hand truck.
• Monitor machine operation; perform first piece and ongoing inspections using optical comparator and micrometers.
• Maintain records and perform routine maintenance checks; report defects or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Demonstrate broad job understanding and apply skills across processes or specialize deeply in one area.
