Job Description: Automotive Paint Technician

Location: 16749 Weir Creek Blvd, West Point, Virginia, 23181

Company: CarMax

Overview: Under general supervision, responsible for all aspects of the paint application process, minor repairs, sanding, grinding, and paint preparation. Also performs duties related to cosmetic reconditioning, inventory, and detailing as needed.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Complete paint application and minor repairs, including sanding and grinding.
2. Prepare paint, including color matching and mixing.
3. Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities with the team.
4. Execute standardized work as defined.
5. Ensure all vehicles meet CarMax paint standards.
6. Maintain, repair, and clean all equipment as required.
7. Manage inventory levels of PPE, tools, and chemicals.
8. Maintain workplace cleanliness and organization per CarMax 5S standards.
9. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
10. Perform interior and exterior detailing, interior repairs, and other paint preparation functions.
11. Complete additional duties as assigned by managers.

Job Requirements:

• Complete New Associate Orientation and Kronos training.
• Meet performance standards for various reconditioning roles.
• Successfully complete workstation certifications.
• Ability to read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately.
• Discern appropriate paint colors for vehicle reconditioning.
• Perform duties in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
• Lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Communicate effectively with customers and associates.
• Complete CarMax training for cross-functional coverage.

Working Conditions:

• Indoor and outdoor environments, possibly noisy or inclement weather.
• Adherence to all safety, OSHA, and EPA standards, including PPE use.
• Extended walking or standing periods.
• Variable shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours.
