Lockheed Martin Space (LMS) is hiring a Capture Management Director to spearhead large‑scale capture campaigns valued at more than $1billion across military, civil, national security, and commercial space markets. Reporting to the Vice President of Capture Excellence (CE) within the Strategy & Business Development (S&BD) organization, the Director will define capture strategies, ensure disciplined execution throughout the capture lifecycle, and collaborate with Lines of Business, Engineering, Finance, and senior leadership to maximize win rates, drive growth, and strengthen LMS’s strategic position.

In this role, the Director will shape and influence the trajectory and structure of major acquisition opportunities while leading a multidisciplinary team that includes strategy, business development, proposal managers, business operations, and solution architects. The Director will oversee the full capture process—from early‑stage shaping through proposal submission and negotiation—across an enterprise‑wide portfolio, coordinating internal and external outreach to align acquisition constructs with critical customer mission needs. Leveraging deep experience with large captures, the Director will grow the business and build on LMS’s recent successes, working closely with the CE VP, the MSAC VPs and their leaders, functional area heads, and the broader S&BD executive team to ensure alignment and capture execution excellence across all capture activities.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership for capture and business development initiatives on large scale opportunities, working closely with the Capture Excellence VP, the MSAC VP, and their respective teams.
  • Design and execute comprehensive win strategies that incorporate competitive intelligence analysis, teaming arrangements, customer assessments, and all other capture components to maximize the probability of success.
  • Partner with senior executives across LM Space to define shaping objectives and establish programmatic baselines for development, production, and services contracts.
  • Craft and deliver customer focused key messages that expand the stakeholder base and sustain momentum for all related acquisitions.
  • Develop detailed project and capture management plans that ensure disciplined execution, adherence to schedule, and cost-effective performance of each capture element.
  • Formulate mission and customer-oriented product strategies that address both short term and long term growth opportunities, and secure advocacy for these strategies from the MSAC team and the pertinent line of business.
  • Lead coordinated engagement campaigns with government customers and external contractors, driving both internal alignment and external partnership activities.
  • Accountable for shaping and securing new business by delivering competitively differentiated, customer aligned mission solutions.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with customers, teammates, and internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with senior executives to develop and execute strategic growth plans and technology roadmaps.
  • Collaborate closely with the GovernmentAffairs team to monitor external influences, budgetary trends, and the positions of Executive and Legislative branches that could affect capture efforts.
Basic Qualifications
  • 15 years minimum experience in aerospace and defense and across military, civil, national security and commercial space customer markets, and previous relevant Government experience and relationships strongly preferred with the space customer groups stated above.
  • Previous team leadership experience working on major captures and programs that cut across competing interests and equities to deliver consensus and desired end states, and ability to build strong internal and external networks and develop strong teams to achieve goals.
  • Previous experience supporting or leading pursuits/captures/proposals valued at $100M to $2B, and strong capture win record and understanding of balance between customer, competitor and internal considerations in formulating an offering.
  • Ability to lead and manage across LM functional areas to engage them early and achieve results, and experience engaging government customers and developing trusted relationships.
  • Advanced executive-level presentation and communication skills, and willingness to travel for business as needed.
Desired Skills
  • Industry-applicable B.S. or B.A. degree required; MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
  • An active TS/SCI clearance, or a TS with the ability to obtain SCI rapidly is strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry in a functional area other than business development is strongly preferred.
  • Experience as a systems and total-offering thinker, with proven ability to bring decision clarity to complex organizations in dynamic environments.
