This role involves overseeing security shift operations, supervising security measures, managing reports, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. The position requires training, personnel development, and proper management of security resources, including weapons and equipment. Responsibilities also include inspecting posts and conducting inmate interviews to maintain safety and security.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Schedule, direct, and manage security shift activities.
2. Supervise and ensure enforcement of security measures.
3. Prepare, submit, and monitor reports.
4. Manage security resources for optimal safety.
5. Ensure proper security of buildings and property.
6. Train and evaluate staff performance.
7. Control and oversee the use of weapons, keys, and security devices.
8. Inspect deployment posts.
9. Interview and counsel inmates as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma and supervisory experience, or a related bachelor’s degree.
• Six years of correctional, security, military, or police experience, including two years of supervisory experience.
• Criminal justice degree may substitute for supervisory experience.
• Certification from the SCDC training academy and completion of supervisory course within six months of appointment.
