Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old at time of application.
  • Possess a valid Louisiana Driver's License at the time of appointment.
  • Have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Have completed a Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) course.
  • Have a current Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certification and at least one year of experience as a P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement officer in a full-time position.
  • Must pass a physical examination and physical fitness test. Eligible applicants must complete a Physical Condition Assessment including push-ups, sit-ups, and a 1.5-mile run; evaluated per Cooper's Standards for Law Enforcement Personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring the safety of the Capitol Complex by enforcing relevant laws, House Rules, Senate Rules, Joint Rules, etc.
  • Involves crime prevention, incident response, collaboration, and routine patrols and monitoring.
  • Report all incidences, accidents, occurrences or threats.
  • Carry out all other duties assigned by the Special Ops Supervisor, Deputy Director, Director of Capitol Security, the Speaker of the House, or the Senate President.
