Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of General Services is seeking an Electrician 1 to maintain the Capitol Complex electrical systems, ensuring safety and reliability for staff and visitors. The role involves installing, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical components in a fast-paced government environment.

You will work 37.5 hours per week, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with no telework option.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (commonwealth title) or four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems.
• Valid license as a journey-level electrician issued by the local Pennsylvania jurisdiction (City of Harrisburg).
• Active motor vehicle license.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair wiring, lighting, controls, and other electrical components.
• Maintain up-to-date understanding of National Electrical Code standards.
• Identify and correct power failures and short circuits using proper tools.
• Operate volt-ohm-milliamp meters, amprobes, meggeres, and similar devices to complete assigned work.
• Follow blueprints and coordinate with other trades to support smooth project flow.
