Job summary

The City of Alexandria is seeking a Capital Projects Manager to oversee the development and execution of Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and Capital Facilities Maintenance Projects (CFMP). You will manage scopes of work, design drawings, specifications, estimates, scheduling, QAQC, and construction management across City departments.

The role requires leading architects, engineers and contractors, coordinating with various City agencies, and ensuring projects meet codes, sustainability goals

Qualifications

  • Four-Year College Degree in architecture or engineering required or equivalent.
  • Extensive project management and supervisory experience in design/construction.
  • Knowledge of public procurement processes and LEED is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct architectural, engineering and construction aspects of CIP and CFMP projects.
  • Develop scopes of work, design drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with City departments, architects, engineers, contractors and staff.
  • Monitor budgets, schedules, QAQC reviews and contract changes.
  • Oversee bidding, construction administration and utilities coordination.
  • Incorporate sustainability and energy savings measures in projects.
  • Develop long-range CIP plans through data analysis and research.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, life safety and zoning regulations.
