Capital Projects Management Specialist I/II FLEX

Join to apply for the Capital Projects Management Specialist I/II FLEX role at County of San Joaquin.

Introduction

This recruitment is being conducted to fill 1 vacancy in the Capital Projects Management Division of the General Services Department. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of completed applications.

Applicants may apply for either the Capital Projects Management Specialist I, II, or both.

Pre-Employment Requirements: Potential new hires must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation. The County pays for the initial drug screen.

Typical Duties

For Capital Projects Management Specialist I:

  • Plans and coordinates analysis, review, preparation, and oversight of county capital and deferred maintenance projects.
  • Develops, monitors, and reviews construction projects; manages contracts and bids; coordinates with vendors and contractors; prepares status reports.

For Capital Projects Management Specialist II:

  • All responsibilities of Specialist I, plus develops procurement documents, administers JOC program, reviews bonds and insurance, and directs work of staff and contractors.
Knowledge and Ability

Knowledge includes practices in construction project management, applicable codes, laws, and regulations, and principles of public administration. Ability encompasses project management, contract negotiation, budgeting, communication, and effective work organization.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Frequent operation of data entry devices, walking, standing, lifting up to 70 pounds, and exposure to construction environments and weather conditions.
