Job summary

City of Columbus is seeking a Professional Engineer to oversee Capital Improvement and Public Private Partnership projects within the Public Service Department. The role includes supervising staff, reviewing plans, and ensuring compliance with regulations and sound engineering principles.

Candidate must hold a valid Ohio PE license and have experience in engineering project management; a driver’s license is required. Specialization in the assigned discipline may be needed for certain postings.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid State of Ohio certificate as a registered Professional Engineer.
• One (1) year of professional engineering experience.
• Specialization in the discipline for which appointment is being made may be required.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Under direction, manages Public Service Department Capital Improvement Projects and Public Private Partnership Projects.
• Acts as engineer-in-charge of moderately large construction and/or maintenance projects.
• Reviews and interprets plans and specifications; evaluates design, schedule and scope; provides technical advice.
• Checks work for quality and quantity using pre-established standards and policies; supervises staff.
