Job summary

Design Group, part of Barry-Wehmill er Design Group, is seeking a Project Accountant in Illinois to support capital projects and client engagements. You will partner with leaders, analyze project finances, and help ensure accurate forecasts, billing, and revenue recognition across multiple offices.

The role emphasizes GAAP compliance, process improvement, and collaboration with project teams to optimize profitability. Limited travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Relevant financial or accounting experience (preferred)
• Advanced Excel skills are required
• Working knowledge of equipment and service procurement (preferred)
• Understanding of financial practices, processes, and systems (corporate environment)
• Solid interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to meet monthly closing and project deadlines
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration

Responsibilities

• Act as the financial gatekeeper for project revenues, costs, and margins
• Provide project finance support, oversight, and analysis to local offices and the region
• Ensure project setup complies with finance guidelines and GAAP
• Review forecasts and ensure revenues and margins are forecasted accurately
• Prepare, review, and issue client invoices and support timely collection
• Assist with month-end close and analysis of business trends and KPIs
